Padded Cell is a collaborative workshop where actors, writers and directors get to work together without the pressure of being on stage or set, to develop new projects and improve their skills. Anyone who comes to Padded Cell can bring material that they would like to work on. Writers can bring in new work and have it brought to life through readings, performance and impro sessions with professional actors. Actors can bring in audition scripts and run them with other actors and a director. Directors can work with actors to try out new techniques - and vice versa. Padded Cell is not a commercial entity - nobody makes a penny out of it. We all share the cost of the hire of the space equally (£5 each per session) and pay an annual membership fee of £20 (which goes into a pot to cover any shortfall in attendance).
